DEVELOPMENT THAT WORKS.

DEVELOPMENT
CAMPS.

Our development camps will redefine off-season player development. Players will train with and learn from the best coaches and professionals in the game. These camps will be intimate with a maximum of 8 players per coach. This will provide sufficient time to focus on a variety of aspects of development, including individual skills, team-oriented sessions, games, seminars, and off-ice workouts.

Why Are We Different?

Our developments camps have a singular focus, player development. Paragon Sports Development is redefining player development by creating an exclusive, elite training environment for camp participants. By keeping the camps small, we will ensure players get real value from the experience. We are driven by the desire to create an elite developmental, educational, and competitive environment unmatched in the industry.

FOUNDED BY
COLBY DROST.

Conceived in August 2021, Paragon Sports Development was created to provide an educational environment unmatched by any off-season spring/summer junior tryout, showcase, or combine. PSD’s camps will bring together elite coaches, industry leading professionals, and talented players in an extremely competitive environment.

Paragon Sports Development’s mission is to Redefine Player Development. It will set the standard for providing development, exposure, and competition.

Founded by Colby Drost in early 2019, Paragon Sports Consulting has quickly become an industry leader. PSC has placed players in the NCAA, USHL, NAHL, BCHL, AJHL, and in  elite prep school and midget hockey programs.

Colby has more than 24 years of experience in hockey. He was a goaltender for 17 years before entering the hockey business at the age of 18. Over the last 10 years, he has held various roles in coaching, scouting, and hockey operations in midget, prep, junior, and college hockey. He has
built an extensive network of contacts at every level throughout North America.

From 2015-2019, Colby was the Director of Scouting for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. He worked closely with the team’s General Manager and helped the Fighting Saints to a record of 144-99-20-10. During his tenure, the Fighting Saints produced 19 NHL draft picks and more than 80 NCAA DI commitments. Colby was instrumental in building the 2019-2020 team that finished 33-13-2-0 and identified Dubuque’s star Riese Gaber, the USHL’s 2019-2020 Player of the Year and Forward of the Year.

From 2013-2017, Colby worked with the Skipjacks Hockey Program’s midget and junior teams.

Colby recruited 21 players who committed to NCAA DI programs In addition, in 2015-2016,  Colby was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Skidmore College. In one season,  he recruited 13 student-athletes who helped the program reach national ranking in 2016-17 for  only the second time in school history.

Colby graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History from University of New England and received his Master of Legal Studies from Northeastern University.

JUNIOR & COLLEGE PREPARATION.

Camp attendees will participate in a variety of on and off-ice sessions that will help them understand the preparation necessary to compete at the highest levels of junior and college hockey. Our clients will leave the program understanding what will be expected of them at the higher levels.

INVESTING IN YOUR DEVELOPMENT.

Each spring and summer, players are inundated with invitations to play in tournaments, showcases, and tryout camps. Let’s take a look at some numbers and calculate how much time players really have to invest in their off-season development. Suppose a player competes in 3 events in the month of July, which require roughly 12 days (including travel and the event).

This player will have spent almost 40% of the month at these events. Add in a couple of days for rest and recovery after each event. Now, 18 days are accounted for, or roughly 60% of the month. The player has only 13 days left to train in the month of July. What we know is that the key to a truly transformative off-season is time spent in the gym and working on skills. As this example demonstrates,  attending more than a couple of select events makes this nearly impossible.
