Durocher joins the Pioneers for his first season in 2021-22. Before SHU, he served as an assistant coach for Atlantic Hockey foe Robert Morris where he produced a team with a top five power play percentage, earned three Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team selections, member of the Coach of the Year Western Pod Award for AHA and coached western pod’s Forward, Defenseman and Rookie of the Year award winners.
He joined Robert Morris after two seasons as an assistant with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League, including the 2018-19 campaign that saw them finish with a 30-25-5-2 overall record and ended in the selection of four Musketeers in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Before arriving in the USHL, Durocher served as a video coach with the AHL’s Binghamton Devils during the 2017-18 season and spent two years in a similar capacity with the men’s hockey program at St. Lawrence University from 2015-17.
Prior to his coaching career, Durocher played Division III hockey at SUNY Cortland, where he graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. He went on to earn his Master’s in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2014 where he began his coaching career at the DII level before moving on to join the EHL’s New England Wolves staff in 2014.
Durocher’s background and experience in pre-scouting, video analysis and skill development will serve the Pioneers well in their bid to return to the top of Atlantic Hockey during the 2021-22 campaign.
