Biography
Glenn Stewart

University of New Hampshire
HockeyEast

Glenn Stewart is currently in his eighth season as associate head coach at UNH in 2021-2022. Stewart works directly with the forwards and the penalty kill.

The Wildcats led Hockey East and were fourth nationally in penalty kill percentage (.874) in the 2017-2018 season under Stewart’s guidance.

Stewart came to UNH from Merrimack College where he spent the previous five seasons (2009-2014) with the Warriors, including two as associate head coach. In his first season with the Warriors, the program posted 16 wins and returned to the Hockey East playoffs for the first time in six years.

Prior to his time at Merrimack, Stewart spent five seasons (2005-09) at the University of Connecticut as an assistant coach and spent three of those five years as recruiting coordinator. While with the Huskies, Stewart earned his Master of Arts degree in Sport Management. He got his start in coaching in 2003-04 when he spent one season with American International College.

A four-year letter winner at UNH (1990-94), Stewart skated in 144 games and posted 51 goals with 51 assists for 102 points. He served as an assistant captain his senior year. As a sophomore in 1992, UNH advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament while advancing to the second round as a senior in 1994.

Prior to coaching, Stewart played nine professional seasons with stints in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), the International Hockey League (IHL), the United Hockey League (UHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). As a professional, he played in 618 games and tallied 402 goals along with 452 assists for 854 points.

Stewart and his wife Bridget reside in Natick, Mass., with their daughter Callan.

He was named to the University of Maine men’s ice hockey coaching staff on July 28, 2021.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Fortier brings 12 years of experience in the junior hockey coaching ranks to Orono. Before joining Odessa, he was the general manager and head coach of the Coquitlam Express in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the 2019-20 season. His team finished the year 47-9 and won the regular season championship. Fortier’s squad was undefeated heading into the Division Finals before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Paul Goodman

Strength & Conditioning
Goodman Elite | Chicago Blackhawks

He’s one of the several behind-the-scenes staffers that make the Blackhawks run day in and day out, but strength and conditioning coach Paul Goodman is garnering national recognition in his field.

Goodman has been named the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)’s Professional Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, joining a long list of widely-respected names honored by the organization that he looked up to early in his career.

“To be in that same grouping of those same names I was looking at when I was in earlier stages, I’m pretty proud of that,” he said. “I’m humbled by it… I’m truly appreciative.”

Although the award is an annual occurrence, he said, it often speaks to the larger body of work over the recipient’s career.

Before his time in Chicago, Goodman served as the director and head strength coach at the University of Vermont, where he earned the NSCA’s State/Provincial Director of the Year award and was a finalist for College Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year. Now heading into his 13th season at the pro level with the Blackhawks, Goodman played a vital role in the organization’s greatest decade during the 2010s and continues to lead the off-ice development of the team, including the next generation of stars in Chicago.

“I would be remiss without (acknowledging) the support I’ve received,” he said. “From day one (with the Blackhawks), I felt extremely vested and supported in my desires to be able to provide a level of service towards the athletes, coaches, management and the staff I work with. I felt very at home right away. I think that plays a huge component… There’s comfort in knowing that those people care about me, support me and I care deeply about them as well.”

Despite his nearly 20 years in the field, Goodman is continuing to grow and evolve in the ever-changing world of sports science. Already with two Master’s Degrees to his name, he’s in pursuit of a PhD and recently co-authored a book with head team physician Michael Terry called Hockey Anatomy.

“I’m hungry to be the best in my field,” he said. “I’m hungry to be able to provide the best knowledge, experience, thought and care to the players. But I’m also hungry and pursuant of things that I don’t know and being able to explore those things that I don’t know or I don’t have the full breadth of knowledge in, looking at it as another avenue of to gain knowledge to be able to provide towards the team.”

LET’S REDEFINE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT TOGETHER.

Get Started

CONCEPTS.

On-Ice Skill
Development.

Sessions will involve a variety of individual skill development and high-level, full ice drills. They will be designed like college practices, so our players experience what it takes to compete at that level.

Off-Ice Strength
Conditioning.

Younger players rarely understand the importance of strength/conditioning. Our players will be exposed to training, nutrition, and recovery methods they can implement when they return home. They will learn from some of the best professionals in the industry and leave with a clear understanding of what they need to do off the ice to achieve their goals.

Guest Speakers
Seminars.

Understanding what college coaches, general managers, and scouts are looking for is vital. Our college and junior level guest speakers will explain this in detail.

Games.

Our teams will compete throughout the camp. Games will be highly competitive, and we expect all of our players to approach them as they would in-season. These games will provide players opportunities to apply what they have learned during the camp, along with incredible exposure to the NCAA coaches in attendance. Other junior and NCAA programs will be invited to attend our games as well. Paragon Sports Development will provide anyone in attendance with lineup charts that will include background information on every player.

EXPECTATIONS.

Paragon Sports Development expects players in attendance to have growth mindsets, to compete, and to demonstrate strong work ethic. It is important we establish a culture for the camp, such that every player pushes each other. Attendees will get the maximum benefit from this camp if they are willing to meet the standard of excellence we demand.
